Winter Hair Care Guide

Winter has arrived and so has its bitter winds! As a result, your hair will unfortunately pay the price. However, have no fear; here are a few hair care tips to keep in mind this winter season. http://www.longlocks.com/winter-hair-care-tips.htm

1. Condition, like a lot.
Your hair lacks moisture with the combination of dry heat and cold weather. With no moisture, means dry hair, which can lead to breakage.

2.  Avoid the heat.
Hair tools such as blow dryers and flat irons dry your hair out even more. If you can't skip these steps in your grooming routine, add a heat protectant spray instead.

3. Avoid chemicals.
Do not dye your hair with peroxide-laden color or perm it during this time. This action will do more harm than good.

4. Clarify a bit.
When there is buildup in your hair from products such as hairsprays, mousses, gels, and even hard water and mineral deposits, we clarify.  A clarifying shampoo helps remove this build up, restore shine and gives your hair a fresh start.

5. Cover up!
It’s going to be cold, so bring out your winter accessories. It’s a great time to be stylish with this season’s scarves and hats.

6. Delicate state.
Your hair is in a delicate state now, especially with the lack of moisture. When combing your hair, don’t overdo it. Brush with care.

7. Trim often.
Keep your hair looking and feeling healthy by giving a visit to your stylist for a quick trim every 6-8 weeks. Visit one of the professional stylists at New England Associates! http://hairstart.com/contact_us.htm

9. Water temperature is key.
Searing hot water is bad, but lukewarm or room temperature is okay to use when bathing. Hot water may cause hair loss by opening up hair pores and loosening the hair follicle from the root. As a result, when you dry your hair or comb through it, more strands than usual may fall out.
