How to Treat Women’s Hair Loss

Some hair loss in women is caused by changing hormones or other health issues. However, those who don’t suffer from health-related hair loss may be caught off guard when they begin to experience hair loss. Approximately 30 million women (one in four) experience hereditary women's hair loss . Typically, a woman's hair is at its thickest by age 20. After age 20 hair gradually begins to thin, shedding more than the normal 40-100 hairs each day. Many women report feeling embarrassed or unattractive when confronting hair loss. If your struggling with hair loss, we at New England Associates want to help you restore your confidence and your hair!

Laser Hair Therapy (LHT) is an FDA approved non-surgical hair restoration treatment that is proven to regrow hair. This quick and effective treatment uses low level red lights to increase blood flow in the scalp to stimulate damaged or weak hair follicles. The result can be longer, thicker, healthier hair and several studies have shown most patients show a visibly noticeable regrowth of hair.

Using herbal Propecia-type products combined with LHT may increase the effectiveness of treatments and strengthens hair to prevent future hair loss. These products provide necessary nutrients vital to having healthy, shiny hair and cleanse the scalp so treatments can further penetrate the follicles. Following a good hair care routine along with these products can regrow and strengthen your hair so you can style your hair without fear of bald spots showing.

Good hair nutrition is vital for healthy hair! Eating a balanced diet and drinking plenty of water is a great way to internally treat dead, damaged hair. Taking a daily hair vitamin is also a great way to boost your hair’s health. HairStart® Essentials™ contains 11 DHT-opposing ingredients from affecting multiple hair concerns. Unlike some other marketed hair products and internal treatments, Essentials™ has no known side effects and is safe for both men and women of all ethnicities.  New England Associates® offers procedures, products and devices that are specifically designed to assist women with damaged, fine, thinning or balding hair concerns. Our hair replacement solutions are completely natural-looking and are able to be styled to your desired length and color. You might also be a candidate for hair transplantation. Finally, our line of pharmaceutical-grade products are specifically designed to strengthen hair and regrow thinning locks. Tips to Save Your Colored Hair from Damage

Hair dying is one of the most popular hair styling trends right now especially during the summertime. From balayage, to pale pastels and funky multi-colors people of all ages are looking for ways to showcase their trendy hairstyles. While dying hair is a fun and creative way to show off your personal style it’s also very easy to overdo it and damage your hair.  Here are some important tips on ways to protect and maintain colored hair so you can make fewer salon trips and spend all the money you saved at the next big music festival or on your next vacation destination.  New England Associates® offers the products and solutions to help you keep your hair healthy!

Wash Less Often
After you dye your hair, your stylist will typically recommend not washing your hair for at least two days. While this may seem gross it’s important in maintaining color for the long haul. Washing your hair every day is unnecessary, whether you color your hair or not, but if you sweat a lot or tend to have greasier hair using a dry shampoo is a great alternative. If you want to preserve your new color only wash your hair when necessary.

Conditioner is Your Friend
Bleaching hair opens the cells in your follicles which makes it harder for your hair to hold onto moisture so it’s important to regain and maintain that moisture. On a wash day, wet your hair, put a moisturizing conditioner  through your hair, and then shampoo directly on top of the conditioner. Doing this puts a barrier between your color and the shampoo while still removing excess natural oils. Famed NYC stylist Shaun Surething also suggests using a weekly hair conditioning mask and putting coconut oil or a thick conditioner on the ends of bleached or colored hair before getting in the water to protect your color from salt and chlorine.

Avoid Heat
The chemical process of bleaching your hair makes your hair very fragile. Applying too much heat can cause hair to melt and break off. After washing it’s best to pat excess water from your hair with a microfiber towel or cotton t-shirt and let it air dry. If you absolutely must use heat to achieve a certain style apply a generous amount of a heat-protectant styling product before using heated styling tools to guard your hair from thermal damage.

If you have thinning, damaged hair from over processing or need to strengthen colored hair come to New England Associates. We offer the best and latest treatments in hair restoration and replacement! Our line of pharmaceutical-grade products are specifically designed to cleanse the scalp and strengthen hair follicles which can improve results of chemical processing.
These are tips and suggestions.  What is best for your hair?  The proper treatment program for you is a phone call away.  Contact us today to schedule your FREE private hair and scalp evaluation or visit our website to learn more.
