Laser Hair Therapy Worked for Lisa

It’s never too late to stop your thinning hair from breaking or falling out. At New England Associates®, we are dedicated toward helping you find a solution to restore more than just your hair. We are committed toward helping you regain your confidence and transform you into the joyful person you are meant to be.

Check out Lisa's video above to see how she feels after receiving Laser Hair Therapy. This non-surgical procedure emits low-level laser energy onto your entire scalp. The low-level lasers reinvigorate your dormant hair follicles to increase cellular activity and blood circulation. This reactivation process increases the production of nutrients, removal of waste and degeneration of hormones, such as Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), that causes hair loss in both women and men.

Laser Hair Therapy has been clinically proven to be safe and provide effective results for clients, like Lisa, who find themselves suffering from thinning and breaking hair. Laser Hair Therapy is FDA approved.

Lisa schedule a hair and scalp analysis after noticing that her hair was severely thinning 10 years ago. Unaware of her hair and scalp condition, Lisa scheduled her first consultation, free of charge, at a hair restoration facility, like New EnglandAssociates®.  In her complimentary, private consultation, Lisa was given a hair and scalp analysis that determined her scalp condition and the procedure that suited her best. Her analysis showed that Laser Hair Therapy was the procedure that could fortify her hair and stop it from thinning and breaking.

The results speak for themselves. Lisa noticed that her hair was growing in just a few months! She and her husband couldn’t be happier for how well Lisa’s Laser Hair Therapy turned out.

No matter how long you’ve waited or the condition of your hair, New England Associates® is here to help you restore your hair for the long run. Hormones Linked to Hair Loss

courtesy of hairloss.org
Do you ever wonder why you change moods or are hungry at certain times of the day? No, it’s not always your mind doing all these things, sometimes it’s your hormones. Hormones are important chemical messengers in our body that stimulate action.According to the Hormone Health Network, “Hormones are chemical messengers that control the major bodily functions, from simple basic needs like hunger to complex systems like reproduction, and even the emotions and mood.”

Our body keeps our hormones balanced. Any type of change can cause a hormonal imbalance. A hormonal imbalance typically indicates an increase in androgens, a male sex hormone such as testosterone. Testosterone is one of the main androgens in the human body. It’s the male sex hormone that is responsible for puberty and initiating facial and body hair. All women carry a small percentage of this hormone to produce hair around their body, such as their under arms, legs, arms and private areas, but very rarely on their face.

An excess amount of testosterone can cause abnormal changes like hair loss. These changes affect both men and women differently. Here are four main causes of hair loss due to a hormonal imbalance.

1.      High levels of Dihydrotestosterone - When there are high levels of testosterone in our bodies, they convert to the androgen dihydrotestosterone or DHT. DHT attaches itself to the receptors in the hair follicle, shrinking the hair follicle to a miniature state. In this phase, hair follicles become very weak where they can’t grow and aren’t able to grow new hairs.

2.      Androgenetic Alopecia - Androgenetic Alopecia follows the similar concept of DHT, where there are high levels of androgens in our body. However, it can be caused by other things as well, such as birth control pills highly concentrated with androgens, pregnancy, menopause and polycystic ovarian syndrome.

3.      Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome - According to WomensHealth.gov, “Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS is a common health problem caused by an imbalance of reproductive hormones. The hormonal imbalance creates problems, mainly cysts, in the ovaries.” PCOS increases levels of DHT causing thinning hair to female pattern baldness.

4.      Thyroid Disorders – The thyroid is a gland in charge of controlling your body’s metabolism. According to WebMD.com, “It produces hormones that control the speed of your metabolism -- the system that helps the body use energy. Thyroid disorders, such as stress, can cause an individual’s thyroid hormone levels to increase or decrease, causing hair loss.

If you’re concerned about your hair loss, your best bet is to get analyzed early to see if you are experiencing hormonal hair loss and what treatments will help.

Restore Your Hair this Winter Season With HairStart®

Winter can be a brutal season for hair. From split ends to a dry scalp, the winter season is no friend of ours. As this year’s harshest weather approaches, let’s prepare for it with healthy and lustrous hair.
Men and women both want their hair to look nice even during the worst weather days. However, the necessary measures aren’t often taken to replenish their hair from the disastrous conditions they expose it to. If hair is essential to us, let’s treat it with care. Here are the top-three hair care tips that will revive your hair from its dead state this winter.

Deep Condition & Moisturize
Harsh winter temperatures damage your hair causing your scalp to lose nutrients and your hair to become frizzy.  Deep conditioning your hair will cleanse your scalp, eliminate dirt, strengthen your roots, and it replenishes your hair with nutrients. It’s recommended to deep condition your hair at least once a week.

Once you’ve washed your hair, it’s imperative to lock in some oils that your hair needs. Look for natural oils, such as coconut or Argon Moroccan, which give your hair shine and grows it out. Also, try to avoid products that contain alcohol, or high amounts of it, such as in some hairsprays and hair gels. These products dry and damage your hair.

At New England Associates®, our line of hair care products provide the necessary nutrients for your hair. Below are some of our most popular products that are great for deep conditioning, moisturizing and styling. Visit our website at http://hairstart.com/ to view our full collection of hair care products.

·         For deep conditioning, try our HairStart® Condition25™, a conditioner that contains 25 vitamins, minerals and amino acids essential for healthier and fuller looking hair.

·         To retain moisture, our NEA Conditioner Moisturizing Formula  reduces dryness and flakes and helps your hair look lustrous.

Heat Protectant
During the winter, most men and women tend to use a lot of heat styling products that can damage their hair. Though staying away from them can be hard, it’s recommended not to use them as frequently. Letting your hair dry naturally and leaving it in its natural state is one of the best ways protect your hair from the heat. However, if you insist on using a heat styling product, it’s highly recommended to use a heat protectant like New England Associates® '  NEA Styling Lotion. This product can protect hair from heat, controls frizz and preserves your hair’s moisture balance.

Trim Your Hair Regularly
This may sound strange, but trimming your hair, specifically your split ends, fortifies your hair. Leaving split ends in your hair only causes your hair to look brittle and unattractive. Trimming them enhances your hairs strength and quality to grow better and longer. According to womanitely.com and menshairstylestoday.com, it’s recommend to trim your hair around every 2 months.

Following these tips not only protects your hair, but also restores your hair to a healthier state. We all want healthy looking hair, so let’s make it happen. New England Associates® can help you achieve the hair of your dreams. A free consultation is the first step towards addressing your hair loss or thinning issues. Find out WHY you’re losing your hair and just how healthy your scalp really is, and how can you improve it. Call 1-866-HairStart today for more information to discover your options.

This November Men are Growing Hair for a Cause!

November is the month for men to take a stand and tackle the biggest health concerns men face daily. There are two separate foundations that in support of men’s health, are generating a lot of popularity for their unique ways to raise awareness.

The Two Foundations

No-Shave November is a foundation most men may be familiar with. The goal is to have men give up shaving for an entire month to grow, and groom if preferred, a moustache and beard to raise awareness for men affected by cancer. The money that goes into hair maintenance should then be donated for the cause. This call-to-action stimulates conversation in an effort to get more men checked and treated for cancer.

Movember, a combination of the words “November” and “moustache”, is a foundation aimed at tackling the biggest health issues that men battle. To participate, men have to grow and groom a mustache for the entire month of November. The mustache is the symbol of hope and bravery as men raise awareness for health issues like mental health, suicide, testicular and prostate cancer.  Just like No-Shave November, the funds that go into hair maintenance should then be donated for the cause.

How Women Can Participate

Though, both foundations focus on having men participate for the cause, women can join as well. There is no need for women to grow real facial hair, but many women can sport a faux moustache in support of the cause and help by donating as well.  *Photo Courtesy of us.movember.com

The Side Effects of Cancer

For both foundations, prostate cancer is one of the most deadly diseases men can battle. It is the second most common cause of death in men. According to Movember.com, 35 men die every hour because of prostate cancer.  Like any type of cancer, prostate cancer offers the treatment option of chemotherapy, with a resulting side effect that causes hair loss amongst men. From thinning hair to baldness, hair loss for men can be a traumatic event.

At New England Associates®, we provide hair loss solutions to men and women who suffer from hair loss, no matter what the cause. With over 30 years of experience, time is always on our side. For Men: Long Hair Styles are Back!

New England Associates® Can Give You The Hair You Want

Men all over are making it known that long hair doesn’t just define a woman, it can also define a man. From the iconic man bun to a messy do, here are the top-5 hairstyles trending this year.

The Mid-Length Bad Boy

Chris Hemsworth’s side-parted hairstyle gives you the edgy, rough look you’ve been waiting for. Just like the Thor actor, you too can look like a tough and charming superhero.

The Long Tail

Anyone thinking about dying their grey hairs should take a look at Sean Connery. The famous Scottish actor embraces his natural grey hairs and shows that growing older can be done with style. This pulled back hairstyle is casual and convenient for any occasion.

Long Top/Short Sides

This could be the most popular hair style for men of the year. David Beckham is modeling it to perfect here. When your hair is longer on top, you have the ability to style it up or slicked back.

The Gold Split
Jared Leto’s hair parted down the middle may be ordinary, but the touch of gold on his tips make a fashion statement. At 44, Leto makes it known that men over 40 like himself can be stylish and still hold on to their masculinity.

The Slick Back
At just 40 years old, Colin Farrell never looked so good. His slick back hair-do is charming yet manly.

There is no doubt that hair makes an enormous difference to your outward appearance and, most importantly, your inner confidence. Hair is a valuable asset. You don't need to settle for that bald spot or those thinning hairs! There are various ways to restore your hair and regain your confidence, with New England Associates®!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month in New England!

This month, pink ribbons will be gracing our T-shirts as millions march on the fight against breast cancer. As we all come together to celebrate the fighters and survivors battling this disease, we all become unified by the bravery and hope of millions of women.

Breast Cancer, like any other type of cancer, can destroy a person internally and greatly affect them externally.  The survivors of this malicious battle are often left with scars, and in many cases lose things that make them feel feminine, like their hair. One concern most survivors have when battling this disease and going through chemotherapy is, “Will my hair grow back?”

New England Associates ® has been in the hair restoration business since 1982. With over 34 years of experience, we have always been proud to provide each client with the latest solutions and technology available to fight hair loss. Our procedures are ideal for women who are suffering from thinning hair or complete hair loss, due to chemotherapy, radiation, or other medical reasons.

Each procedure is intended to help women Look As Good As They Feel™. We offer surgical and non-surgical procedures, assisted by trained professionals guiding clients throughout the entire process. From our HairStart® Laser Hair Therapy to hair grafting for women and micro-surgical follicular unit hair transplantation, each method is designed to help solve your hair problems.

Cancer is a tough battle and here at New England Associates® we want to send out a message of hope to everyone going through it. Don’t let cancer sentence you to a life without hair. Hair is an important part to a woman’s life. Your future with hair is possible.

There are many ways you can participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month around the New England area. To donate or get involved, visit some of the links below and become a contributor to a wonderful cause.
