Hair Loss Awareness Month

August is National Hair Loss Awareness Month, to inform those who are unaware and to comfort those who are suffering from hair loss. At New England Associates® we care about our clients and want to give them all of the knowledge and resources available to be able to combat hair loss.

People of all ages, ethnicity and health situations can suffer from hair loss. It is important to remember that you should not be ashamed if you are experiencing hair loss. It is more common than many people think and there are endless options to help fight it.

Men and women are both effected by hair loss, contrary to popular belief. Studies have shown that women make up 40% of hair loss sufferers. As many as 85% of men will have significant hair loss by the age of 50 and some loose hair starting at age 21.

Male Hair Loss Causes

The most common type of hair loss that men experience is male pattern baldness, which is genetic. Some other common causes include: medical conditions, diet, stress and hormones. If you are not getting all the nutrients that your body needs, your hair may be affected by it. Stress also has an effect on hair loss. Too much testosterone can also affect your hair follicles and hair growth stages.

Female Hair Loss Causes

Like men, women suffer from hair loss, including female pattern baldness, which can present itself in different ways. Women may not see the hair loss at the hair line but at the crown of the head. If you notice that the width of your ponytail is getting smaller in diameter, that could be a sign of hair loss. Hair styles that pull on your hair, can often cause hair breakage and damage. Other common hair loss causes include some birth control, ovarian cysts, pregnancy, and menopause.

If you are experiencing hair loss it could be attributed, but not limited to, the causes that we just described. However, just because you are suffering from hair loss does not mean that there aren’t solutions. At New England Associates® we are committed to having you Look As Good As You Feel™. We offer a variety of options ranging from surgical to non-surgical, along with a line of hair products that can be used alone or in addition to a treatment to promote more hair growth.

We offer solutions catered to the different needs of each individual. You can receive hair transplants, hair replacement with treatments like Hair Grafting, and Laser Therapy with our Hair Start® program, among many other options.

If you are dealing with hair loss, it is important to know that you are not alone and are not without options. We are committed to helping you get your confidence back. If want to learn more about the treatments we offer or what options are best for you, you can come in for your free hair and scalp analysis.
