New Hair, New You in 2016!

As we embark into another year, we all want to look and feel our best, but for those living with hair loss it can be hard to feel good about the upcoming year. Luckily, New England Associates has good news for you! Since 1982, NEA has been helping people look their best by utilizing the latest technology to repair, replace and restore lost hair. At New England Associates, there are many procedures available that can help you gain the look you want - some are medical but many are not.
Which process is right for you? Let's find out now and put the problems of hair loss behind you, once and for all. Let New England Associates help you restore your hair and your confidence in 2016!

Hair Transplantation: Hair Transplantation is a surgical procedure that moves individual hair follicles from one part of the body called the 'donor site' to a bald or balding part of the scalp known as the 'recipient site'. Every procedure is carefully crafted to create optimum results for each individual client and your physician’s surgical technique ensures you get a softened, naturalized hairline. http://hairstart.com/surgical.htm

HairStart® Laser Hair Therapy™: This advanced treatment program utilizes FDA approved products and devices to slow hair loss and improve the general appearance of thinning hair.  Laser Hair Therapy bathes your hair root with a nourishing light and is designed to energize your hair. At NEA, the HairStart Laser has 135 laser diodes, more than any other clinical laser in New England that we know of!

Solutions for Men: Men no longer have to worry about their genes  getting in the way of a full head of hair. At New England Associates men may not only be able to keep the hair they already have, but also keep it in better condition than it was before. At NEA we offer every successful solution to stop hair loss and re-grow, restore, or replace hair including Non-Surgical Hair Grafting, Hair Transplants, Laser Therapy and more.

Solutions for Women: Women experience hair loss quite differently than men and New England Associates offers procedures that are specifically designed to assist women with damaged, fine, and thinning hair. While many women have chosen our surgical and non-medical options, many have benefited from our HairStart® Laser Hair Therapy™ Treatments. NEA also offers a line of HairStart® products for optimum hair care before, during, and after a procedure.

If you’re ready to start the New Year with a new head of hair then visit our site www.HairStart.com or call 1-866-HairStart to schedule a no-cost/no-obligation microscopic hair & scalp exam to diagnose the cause of your hair loss problem and discuss what procedures are right for you!

Men’s Hair Loss and Genetics

The American Hair Loss Association (AHLA) states that about 85% of men will have significant hair thinning by the time they turn 50. Majority of male hair loss – more than 95% – is attributed to male-pattern baldness, which is a genetic trait. It is important to note that in most cases hair loss in men does not signal that there is a medical problem.

The gene that causes male-pattern baldness can come from either parent. According to WebMD, a sign that you are beginning to experience male-pattern baldness is a receding, M-shaped hairline.

The next sign is hair thinning on the top of your head; eventually the two meet and create a horseshoe-type appearance around the head.

Hormones are another major cause of male-pattern baldness. The hormone, Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), causes hair follicles to shrink. These hair follicles end up shrinking so much that hair can no longer grow from them.

New England Associates (NEA) offers every successful option to stop hair loss and re-grow, restore, or replace hair. Several procedures that NEA offers to help men and women fight hair loss are Hair Transplantation, Hair Replacement, and Laser Hair Therapy Treatments, among others.

Among NEA’s many hair loss-fighting procedures, we also offers a free consultation and hair and scalp analysis. Hats and Hair Loss

The correlation between hats and hair loss is one of the oldest myths that has been told for far too long. Believe it or not, there is no scientific research that proves wearing a hat contributes to hair loss.  Many people believe that wearing hats will cause or contribute to premature baldness,  but believe it or not, there is no scientific research that proves wearing a hat contributes to hair loss. In order for a hat to cause hair loss, it would need to be tight enough to cut off circulation to the hair follicles — and I certainly hope no one is wearing a hat that tight!

http://www.healthcentral.com/skin-care/c/1443/155005/wearing-hat-hair/#sthash.ITpndUzn.dpuf

Most experts can agree that wearing a hat daily does not cause you to lose hair. However, for those who are already losing their hair due to male pattern baldness and/or from another genetic predisposition, wearing a hat can be threatening to your hair's health.

Here are some ways that a hat could cause a problem for someone who already has thinning hair:
http://www.livestrong.com/article/31899-hats-cause-thinning-hair/

On & Off
When removing and replacing a hat often, some delicate hair that is already thinning or falling out could be aggravated, and pulled out. This could further the loss of hair that is about to fall out due to balding. Preventing the constant removal and replacement of your hat could assist in keeping some of that hair on the head where it belongs.

Too tight
Although, not commonly seen, there are some conditions where a very tight hat could potentially cut of circulation to the head and result in a deadened hair follicle. For this to happen, the hat would have to be so tight that it would be extremely uncomfortable.

Sweating
The consistent application of a hat while sweating profusely can be damaging to your hair follicles. What happens is that the sweat could become trapped in the follicle causing it to slow down growth. This particular process must be studied further for more definitive answers.

Continuing to wear a hat on a regular basis could potentially lead to damaged hair from split ends and breakage. As a result your hair could look less thick, and thinner in some places.
The bottom line is, while hats may not be the main cause when it comes to hair loss, they surely don’t help it. Although genes will play a much bigger role in hair loss than your hat will, it is always good to take precautions.

So remember, try not to wear tight hats, exercise in a hat/sweating into it, or be careless when removing or replacing it!

Hair Loss: Can it Happen Everywhere?

Hair loss is a common condition that can affect men, women, and even children. There are a variety of causes for hair loss, some more difficult to diagnose than others, including auto immune diseases, hormonal imbalances and changes, excessive lack of vitamins, among many more. These factors contribute to hair loss along the scalp region, but what about the rest of the hair on our bodies? Can hair loss occur elsewhere?

Hair loss can in fact occur on our arms and legs. Livestrong.com lists several causes for the occurrence of hair loss within the arm and leg regions of the human body. Let’s take a look.

1. Skin Conditions
Dermatitis, Psoriasis and Keratosis Pilaris are a few of the skin conditions that can cause hair loss on the arms and legs. Dermatitis usually involves an itchy rash on swollen, reddened skin. Psoriasis occurs from immune cells that attack healthy skin. Keratosis Pilaris is inflammation of the skin hair follicles.

2. The use of Steroids
It is no surprise that steroid use can have numerous negative effects on the human body, one of those effects is widespread hair loss. Steroids that contain massive quantities of testosterone are much more likely to cause hair loss on the arms and legs.

3. Physiological Disorders
Alopecia Universalis is a medical condition involving rapid loss of all hair, this includes hair loss occurring on the arms, legs, eyebrows and eyelashes, as well as the scalp.

4. Medication
Chemotherapy drugs are some of the most common causes for hair loss throughout the body. However, there are also several other medications that can cause hair loss on the body’s limbs: These are medications for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Parkinson’s and arthritis.

5. Lifestyle
Diet and stress are lead causes for hair loss occurring on the scalp, as well as on the arms and legs. When the body is starved of sleep, vitamins and other necessary minerals and nutrients, hair loss, among many other negative consequences, can occur.

At New England Associates (NEA), we’ve been specializing in hair restoration for both men and women in the Northeastern United States since 1982. NEA offers many treatment options to help you fight dreaded hair loss. If you’re experiencing hair loss and don’t know what to do, contact us at www.hairstart.com or call us at 1-866-HairStart. The Movember Foundation

When our razors look brand new for weeks and our shaving cream cans collect dust in our bathrooms, it can only mean one thing, it’s “Movember.” Since 2003, the Movember Foundation has been committed to raising awareness and funds for men’s health.

From 30 guys back in 2003 to the 5 million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas there are today. The movember foundation has raised over $650 million dollars and funded over 1,000 programs that focus on some of the biggest health issues faced by men such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.

1. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men in the US.
2. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men aged 15-34 in the US.
3. Around 1 in 4 adults in the US will experience a mental health problem in a given year.
4. Around half (53.8%) of American men meet the federal guidelines for physical activity.

To tackle these issues the movember foundation has established their Global Action Plan (GAP), which connects clinicians and researchers from around the world to accelerate health outcomes for men living with prostate and testicular cancer. In 2013, they invested in mental health programs by partnering with the US to develop and implement actionable, community-level prevention plans to improve mental health for men and boys. By 2015 men’s physical health became their newest focus and they began investing in initiatives that encourage physical activity and raises awareness on the dangers of physical inactivity.

As movember approaches decide how you want to help men live happier, healthier, longer lives. Make your move by taking this year’s MOVE challenge or make a statement with your mustache. No matter what you choose to do remember that the movember foundation wouldn’t be where it is without the enthusiasm of all you.

Just like the millions of people helped by the Movember Foundation, New England Associates has been helping people look and feel their best since 1982. At NEA, you will find every successful method that effectively stops hair loss and repairs, replaces, restores or re-grows lost hair. If you're interested in improving your hair's appearance contact New England Associates today to request your FREE microscopic hair and scalp examination.

Hair Loss in Women: Why Me?

Thinning hair and hair loss are never fun topics for discussion, but with nearly 40% of women in the U.S. suffering from thinning hair it's a topic worth talking about. According to Body Logic MD, it's estimated that 1 in 5 women suffer from hair loss. There are many different reasons for hair loss or thinning hair, some of them may be preventable and some may need additional treatment. However, regardless of what your situation may be, New England Associates offers many procedures that can help you look as good as you feel. Let's take a look at some of the reasons for hair loss in women.

1. Hormones:
Hair loss in women can be heavily attributed to the imbalance of hormones. Things like menopause, thyroid problems, and genetic hormonal responses to autoimmune conditions are some of the factors that can become great contributors to hair loss in women.

2. Stress:
Is there a mid-term exam coming up? Are you running behind on an important project at work? Do the bills keep piling up? everyday stressors can be the cause of many human-related health issues, and unfortunately hair loss falls under that same umbrella. Stress can lead to an increase in the hormone cortisol. This hormone creates an increase of adrenaline and testosterone, and may lead to hair loss in women.

3. Birth Control:
It's no surprise that pharmaceuticals may lead to hair loss in both men and women, but birth control has one of the worst reputations for contributing to such loss. More information on the effects of hair loss in women related to birth control can be found at The American Hair Loss Association (AHLA): www.americanhairloss.org

4. Too Much Hair Care:
Putting your hair through too much stress may also encourage hair loss in women. Styling tools and methods such as hair coloring, straightening, curling, brushing, blow-drying, amongst many other techniques can severely damage one's hair, and scalp. It's also very important to read the ingredients in your shampoo and conditioner before use— many commercial shampoos/conditioners use harsh chemicals which in-turn destroy your lovely locks. Instead, try one of NEA's FDA approved products for daily washing!

At NEA, we offer several procedures, both medical and non-medical to assist you in the process towards hair restoration. Together we can fight hair loss and thinning hair with our FDA approved methods and products. Whether you need a hair transplant, or just hair care products of a higher quality, NEA can help you to look as good as you feel! Schedule your FREE Hair and Scalp Analysis today with one of NEA's hair loss experts at HairStart.com or call 1-866-424-7782 (HairStart).
